Shelley has lived in Boulder for over 40 years, arriving from St. Louis after high school, following a childhood dream to live in Colorado. She also spent a year living in Japan in order to study Japanese pottery with a 14th generation potter.

Shelley is the mother of 3 creative adult children and a grandmother. Involved in a wide variety of creative local business ventures, Shelley founded Boulder Arts and Crafts, one of the nation's oldest and most successful artist cooperatives, and in the early 1990's opened "As You Wish", the vanguard gallerys for the "Paint Your Own" pottery concept.

Her stores were featured on the Discovery Channel and examples of her work may be found in the book "Fired Up." Shelley has enjoyed teaching a variety of art and business classes since the early 1970's.
